Greetings Lovers of Jesus,
I am getting excited as the Thanksgiving dinner approaches. I have seen the Lord moving and making ways far beyond anything I expected. I have a list of the donations and volunteers that will be needed that day. You can sign up on the paper sheets you should find at your churches or send me an email and I will include it on the main list.
Because we will be using the rear entrance of the church hall, please remember that there will be limited parking on West Church Street itself. It would be easier to park on Patrick Street near the courthouse or use the parking garages on Court Street or Patrick Street (directly across from the rear entrance). The parking lot surrounding the rear entrance is also used by other businesses so we are limited to a small amount of space and we will use that area as a drop off and pick up point. There will be a sign and balloons at the rear entrance to give direction.
We would appreciate the set up crew to arrive at 11:30 which will give us an hour to get the hall ready to receive guests. The security/safety crew and drivers w/partners will be needed to arrive at 12:00 to have time to secure the building and set out for guests. All others can arrive between 12:00 - 12:30. We will be serving the meal from 1:00 - 3:00. We plan to begin cleaning up at 3:30. Children will get first choice of where to serve, if they are under 12 please have an adult help them. Also, if you plan to attend for the full event, please consider helping with the clean up. Last year we struggled to get the building back into pre-event condition because almost everyone left.
People Needed: Set up, clean up, server, prayer warrior, safety/security, driver & partner, and photo booth
Number of Items and servings needed: (2) Turkey - 50, (3) Spiral Cut Ham - 25, (3) Gravy - 50, (4) Mashed Potatoes - 25, (4) Stuffing - 25, (3) Sweet Potatoes - 25, (3) Green Beans - 25, (3) Carrots - 25, (2) Corn - 25, (3) Mac & Cheese - 25, (2) Cranberry Sauce or Relish - 25, (5) Dinner Rolls or Corn Bread - 30, (5) Cans of Soda or Tea - 30, (5) Bottled Water - 30, (4) Pumpkin Pie - 15, (6) Your Favorite Dessert - 15
This will be a “family style” meal because our guests are our family. We don't want them to feel like they are on display. They are part of our community and valued friends. Please be sensitive to the manner of dress you wear, very casual is most comfortable for all.
We have been collecting winter wear for our friends. Thermal underwear gently used or new mens or womens in all sizes, and sleeping bags. If you have hats, socks, gloves, or coats they would definitely be appreciated. You may bring them on Thanksgiving or give them to one of the Simple Ministries team members.
